Comfort
According to the website InteriorZine, organic materials will be hot in 2022, as will colors and shapes inspired by nature. Natural and cozy materials, such as linen and cotton, clay and brick, velvet and ceramics, will create a calming environment in our homes. Some think the recent pandemic has contributed to many wanting a “slower” lifestyle, more sustainability and less stress.
Soothing colors include greens—in particular, sage and green moss—terra-cotta and nudes.
Minimalism and Practicality
Simple, simple, simple. The folks at InteriorZine note that we will be moving toward homes “diversifying their multifunctionality.” This means having a house that might have space for a home office, an entertainment center, a fitness area or even a hobby room. Materials will emphasize sustainability and could include wool, cork, hemp, marble, terra-cotta, wood, glass, copper, metal, dark matte ceramics, brass or imitation concrete.
The website TrendBook points out that other upcoming styles will include ’70s retro, ’90s urban, smart furniture, concealment of objects, and polka dots. And the designers at New DecorTrends.com say we can look forward to beds on podiums.
